I’ve never considered myself as a morning person. Never! I never liked that alarm sound that was making noise in the morning and never thought that I could become a person that loves morning. I was always struggling to get out of bed. And the things is that I was not sleeping, I was just “half asleep” person hitting the snooze button and trying to prolong until last minute.
Two months ago I decided to change that.
It was hard, I’m not saying that I just decided to start waking up early and op there it was! I was still that walking zombie in the first few hours, but I get used to it and loved the potential of the morning. Especially the sunny ones. So, here are some lessons, tips and thoughts that I wanted to share of my process.
Get out of the bed! Instantly!
As previously mentioned, this was my main problem. Forget about hitting the snooze button and ignore your temptation to go back to sleep. Get out of the bed, stretch your legs and get some fresh and cold water. Doing that, you can always play some music on your phone, which will keep you moving and stimulate your brain. I’m saying that because I believe everyone is keeping their phone near their sleeping area, and it’s usually the first thing you grab in the morning. Just avoid your email and social accounts.
Challenges! Everybody loves challenges!
Another thing is to be challenged to wake up in the morning. Challenge yourself or promise someone that you will do something every morning. Challenging will increase your chances to wake up, you will feel motivated, since you don’t want to look like a fool in someone else’s eyes. Thank You M! 🙂
Aaand as for many good things to happen, there must be a negative side. Say good bye to the late night stays during work days… You may get through one or two days with 3-4 hours of sleeping, but nothing more. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something in order to make something that matter more to you. I made that sacrifice and I don’t regret it.
It’s quiet, it’s still, it’s calm. Grab the day before anyone else does.
Enjoy your morning 🙂
